A Conversation with the Chair of the Working Group Communication
Amra Causevic from AUVA, Austria
The Chair of the Working Group Communication (WG Communication) shared her recent insights about the group’s activities, strategic priorities, and the evolving role of communication within the European Forum.
You have returned from maternity leave and are now taking over the work of the Working Group Communication. What are your initial thoughts?
It is a pleasure to resume my responsibilities and reconnect with the team. I am looking forward to continuing the important work of the Working Group Communication and contributing to the Forum’s goals.
For new members, could you briefly explain what the European Forum represents?
The European Forum is a collaborative platform that brings together institutions involved in social accident insurance across Europe. It promotes knowledge exchange, best practices, and joint initiatives. There was also recently launched a new Working Group on Prevention, which reflects the growing focus of the platform on proactive strategies.
Let’s talk about the WG Communication’s current activities. What is happening with the website?
The website is a key communication tool. In June alone, it received 3,000 clicks, primarily for conference information and member resources. However, we are working on several improvements including easier access to member information, adding LinkedIn contact links, optimising the search function, and updating the Members Area. We also plan to upload a group photo of the WG Communication.
LinkedIn seems to be gaining traction. What is the strategy there?
Yes, we currently have 150 followers. We are aiming to increase engagement by using the carousel format more often, encouraging each EF organisations to post monthly, tagging all organisations to boost visibility, and adding WG Communication members as LinkedIn admins.
There was also a discussion about the European Forum’s presence on X (formerly Twitter). What is the decision?
Given the low engagement—only 63 followers and no posts since June 2024—and the fact that many large organisations in Europe have decided not to use Twitter, we have decided to deactivate the account. We will publish a final post linking to the website, but the account will not be deleted entirely.
A potential name change for the European Forum was also on the agenda.
We had a lively discussion about name suggestions. The suggestions we proposed were presented at the next Plenary Assembly and discussed.
What can we expect in the upcoming edition of Forum News (Edition 62)?
We have received feedback that articles should be placed on a subpage rather than linked as PDFs. The content plan includes editorial and conference review, invitation to the 2026 conference in Poland, interviews with WG leaders, introduction to the new WG Prevention, and articles on Artificial Intelligence and Mental Health. The deadline is end of August.
And what is planned for Edition 63?
The editorial will come from Poland, and we will feature a general article by the WG Prevention. We are also considering a questionnaire on a prevention-related topic.
Looking ahead, what is next for the Working Group?
One of our upcoming focuses will be on mental health.
Thank you for the insights. Any final thoughts?
Just that communication is the thread that connects all our efforts. Whether it is through digital platforms, publications, or face-to-face meetings, we are committed to making our work more visible, accessible, and impactful.
We are calling for more active participation from all member organisations – do not hesitate to be a part of the Working Group Communication! ●
